Steve Fischer - Saxophone - Band Leader
The very same  big band sound that filled America's dance and concert halls over a half century ago is alive and swingin' right here baby!

No big band would be complete without a smooth  jazz singer.   From her playful renditions of "Makin' Whoopee" and "Lorelei" to the jazzy "Sway" and "All Of Me," Nancy Fischer fills the bill like none other. Bandleader, Steve (no fool) Fischer is all wrapped up with his sweet wife even more than his saxophone. Let's just say he has a keen eye for the finer things in life! Local jazz buff Maurice Huff says there's no better band and singer in the state!

The Straight Ahead Big Band plays a wide variety of music associated with famous big bands, and especially the "straight-ahead" style of bands such as those led by Count Basie. (Hence the name of the group.)

The Big Band now has three CDs  available, as well as one from the Straight Ahead Jazz Combo, the all-purpose small group for the times or places where the full ensemble just won't fit.  So if you don't get the local radio stations that are playing our music, go to the Turtle Bay gift shop or log on to https://cdbaby.com/all/redfisch and get the latest great music from this fine group.
