Nancy
Fischer - Vocalist
I started singing in 1960, in my
parent’s shower on So. San Antonio
St., in Pomona, Ca. In 1965, I sang
on Wayne Street, in Pomona – in
the shower. The shower in the
Philippines, 1971, was really good.
Big. Lots of tile. What ever degree
of success I have didn’t happen
until Steve heard me sing. I thank
God for that shower at Debbie Lane
in Redding, CA!
Since I was way too shy to sing in public,
Steve took me by the hand and walked
me into a music class at Shasta
Community College. Under the
brilliant direction of Judith
Knowles, I began singing 1st
soprano in the Shasta Chorale.
Judith (& Steve) changed my
life. Now my motto is "anytime,
anywhere, for anybody". I am a
Life & Health insurance agent
and do accounting for The Leavitt
Group, the 34th largest
insurance broker in the United
States. I’m a wife, daughter,
mother and grandmother. And, I love
to sing.
I feel so blessed to sing with the
wonderful musicians in our Straight
Ahead Big Band or the Straight Ahead
Jazz Combo. If, when
listening to my music, I give you a
smile, or a fond memory, then I have
been successful. Four years ago, I
sang "I’ll Be Seeing
You" for my mother, at her
funeral. It’s one of my favorites,
as it was hers. This year, I sang it
again at the memorial for Stuart
Keith, a world renowned
Ornithologist, and my friend. I like
to think that every song I sing is
somebody’s favorite, and it
touches them. I sing for parties,
conventions, weddings, and, well,
anytime, anywhere, for anybody. Hope
I’ll be seeing you.....
